How to check an AI answer
AI always answers confidently — both when right and when making things up. The tone tells you nothing. Here are a few simple tricks used by anyone who works with AI seriously.
Ask the same thing to several AIs
The fastest and most reliable way for an ordinary person. Ask one question to two or three different AIs. If they answer alike, it is probably true. If they diverge, that is a red flag. In QueryWise this is one request.
Ask the AI for a source
Ask: “what is this based on, give a link”. If the model dodges or gives a link that does not open, do not trust it. AI sometimes invents links too, so open the source and check.
Check specifics, not the general
Explaining a topic is hard to check and usually needless. But anything exact — a date, number, quote, law article — is easy to check: put it into search. AI errs most on specifics.
Ask the question differently
Rephrase or ask “are you sure?”. If the answer suddenly changes, the model was not sure to begin with.
